Fully Accepted

The mature children of God are those who are moved by the impulses of the Holy Spirit. And you did not receive the spirit of religious duty, leading you back into the fear of never being good enough. But you have received the Spirit of full acceptance, enfolding you into the family of God. And you will never feel orphaned, for as he rises up within us, our spirits join him in saying the words of tender affection, “Beloved Father!” For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved Child!” And since we are his true children, we qualify to share all his treasures, for indeed, we are heirs of God himself. And since we are joined to Christ, we also inherit all that he is and all that he has. We will experience being co-glorified with him provided that we accept his sufferings as our own. Rom 8:14-17 TPT

I feel I may be regressing back but to be honest I have struggled a lot lately with old mindsets of not being good enough, not measuring up, rejection, and abandonment. I know that none of these mindsets are from God or even who He says that I am but as I pursued God these things came at me with a vengeance causing me to pull back at times from others. I also know that I am not alone in my struggles with this. Your attack may look different from mine but we all face junk from our past that wants to come back and hold us down to prevent us from the life Jesus died to give us.

Recently as I was struggling with never feeling like I measured up God lead me to the above scripture. I absolutely love the word of God because it speaks truth and life at all times especially when you need it the most. The lie of never being good enough speaks of performance and we do not need to perform in order for God to accept us and love us. We just need to be, be yourself and be with Him. As we draw closer and closer in a more deeper and intimate relationship with the one we love we will begin to change from the inside out. That is the only way we can ever change and become more and more like Him.

The negative mindset of not being good enough, rejection, abandonment, and other things can cause you to feel separated from God and others but the truth is God never leaves you alone and He never rejects you. Even when you are feeling down and out just begin to praise Jesus for who He is. Trust me when you do your attitude and mindset will begin to shift.

As I type this a phrase from a song I cannot recall the title to keeps coming to mind: “don’t give up, don’t give in, we win, we win!!!  When you are a lover of God you win.  We do not have to choose the mindset that says we are not enough, this my friends lines up with an orphan spirit and we are no longer orphans we are beloved children of the most high God.  Be aware of what you are thinking and begin to change your thoughts and actions to ones that line up with the truth of who God says you are.  I love and hate the verse in James that says to count it all joy when you face trials and tribulations.  I know joy is not what we feel but it is what we can choose to feel.  Jesus loves you and is for you.

My fellow believers, when it seems as though you are facing nothing but difficulties, see it as an invaluable opportunity to experience the greatest joy that you can! For you know that when your faith is tested it stirs up power within you to endure all things. James 1:2-3 TPT

Thank you for allow me to digress.  I am praying that the truth of God’s word completly set you free!  You are no longer slaves, you are no longer orphans but you are beloved children of God.  Begin to act and think like His children as you delight in loving HIm and knowing Him more.

Now we’re no longer living like slaves under the law, but we enjoy being God’s very own sons and daughters!  And because we’re his, we can access everything our Father has – for we are heirs of God through Jesus, the Messiah! Galatians 4:7 TPT.

This is How I fight My Battles

Worship is not only a lifestyle it is also a weapon we can use to battle the enemy with. Two of our greatest weapons are the word of God and worship. When you worship your focus turns from problem or situation you are facing and it is directed towards the one who is greater.

I read of a testimony of a little boy who was fighting for his life. Many people prayed for this little boy and declared God’s word and promises over him but it was not until people went into his hospital room and just began worshiping God did amazing things start to take place. He was removed from machines that were helping him stay alive and function. The doctors began declaring improvements over this little boy. To me this was a great illustration of how powerful a weapon we have in praise and worship towards our great and loving God. Is the little boy out of the hospital, not yet but he continues to improve so much that soon his battle will be over and he will be back home playing and enjoying life with an amazing testimony of how good God is.

The bible has some great illustrations also on how powerful worship is. Paul and Silas praised God and they were freed from the chains that bound them, Joshua had the people of Israel march around Jericho 7 times and then let out a shout of praise and the walls fell, and Jehoshaphat had the singers go before them into battle and their enemies were defeated.

2 Chronicles 20:21-22 Tree of Life Version (TLV)

21 After consulting with the people, he appointed singers to Adonai praising the splendor of His holiness, as they went out before the army saying,

“Praise Adonai,

`for His mercy endures forever.”

22 As they began singing and praising, Adonai set ambushes against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were defeated.

Worship not only defeats our enemies worship draws us closer to God. Worship takes our eyes off the problem and focuses our attention back to where it should be; on God. We serve the God of the impossible so stop seeing your situation as being impossible for God to handle. God may not always resolve your situation like you think He should but just trust Him because His plan is better. His plan is not for you to be miserable and suffer. God’s plan is for you to live in joy, peace, and love; we just need to learn how to live that lifestyle until we are fully walking in it. Developing a lifestyle of intimacy is a great place to start. If you intimately know someone then you know and understand their love for you and that they are for you. God’s plan from the garden was to spend time with Him, to have a relationship with Him. For Him to love on us and for us to love on Him. If you want to get back to basics then worship is a great place to begin.

How I Fight My Battles by Upper Room Worship is a great song reminding us that we fight our battles through worship. When we feel surrounded we can know we are really surrounded by Him. We can trust Him that He is fighting our battles for us and helping to defeat our enemies.
